So the consensus is at least, that the silver bodies appear to wear better?

I have no appearance issues with silver bodies and black lenses, but black bodies and silver lenses.... no, I don't like that combination.

If you like the look of the picture it makes don't worry about lens or body color, or better yet, ask your wife which one looks better with the tie you're wearing.

I like the silver body with black lens combination

I suppose I prefer chrome, however, it has nothing to do with fishing tackle design.

But what do I know? I have a well-known anti-intellectual bias, according to some around here.

Take a silver one and never look b(l)ack. You can wear both lens colors depending on your mood and won't get caught by the fashion police
Zeiss lenses are nicer in silver, I find.

BNF, do you live in ZH btw?

for the looks!? black body with silver lenses!

Heh, before I actually got a black body (not a ZI, alas) with a silver lens, I really didn't know what to make of this combo.. but it's really rather growing on me.

For a point of comparison, how does the silver compare in look to the silver CV lenses, such as the 21/4?

I have both. just got the used silver one from KEH. My black one I got used also. I think I will put B&W film in the black one and color in the silver. Nice.

My latest squeeze:
Black ZI with a silver C Sonnar 50/1.5 and black hood.

Kind of stealthy.

I wouldn't mind both a black one and a silver one. My black one doesn't need a twin, but could use a sibling. :D

My ZI is black paint, works fine and shows little wear so far (and it has had a fair bit of film through it). I also have a silver ZI SW - initailly I had mixed feelings about it, like an overpriced Bessa L, but I have warmed to it over time. Works very well with lenses 28mm and shorter and fast film. Just set it at f11/f16 and hyper focus it. Great "Hail Mary" camera shooting over the heads in a crowd too.
My favourite combination is with a 1937 Zeiss Tessar 28mm f8.0!!!!. Used with an Orion type adapter and with a VC 28 finder. I leave it at f16 and load up Neopan 1600 rated around 800-1000 asa. Remarkably sharp little lens and a wonderful "uncoated" look to it. A bit flare if you are not careful, but very sharp and rectilinear rendition.

you realize that when someone votes this thread goes to the top again?
doesn't matter if anything new is written or not...

Well i voted, with my wallet. Bought a black one and MAN IS IT UGLY!

Suggest if you like pretty things, get one in silver. But do get one.

Ted.

Yeah, but everyone knows that classic bike parts are silver, not gauche black. Black is for poseur racer boys. ;) :D

Well I always thought Ducati's should be red or yellow also (I had a yellow 350 and a silver 250), but a black Monster isn't too bad either ...

I'm trying to decide to buy a black ZI (as most of my other camera's) or a silver one, but where I am, it's impossible to find a silver one to have a look; there are kinds of "silver" I like and others I don't really like ..

Stefan.
