Ikon SW questions (newbie, dumb)

Can anybody tell me what the little dial on the back of the camera does? What about the three dots on the upper left of the back that look like LED's? Is it possible to remove the second shoe mount without leaving a big hole in the camera top? Does the camera have any type of shutter speed indication?

Never seen the back of one, can't help you there, but the LED's are to interpret the meter. There is a shutter speed dial on top no?

You'd have some sorta hole if you removed the shoe, black tape?
