Ikon vs the Voights

I have owned R3M, R3A and now the ZI. All great but ZI is just better, better. Although I prefer all manual. BTW I bought a used second ZI body as a backup. Never used it. Sold it 4 months later for the exact cost I paid for it.

Personally from what I've seen on posted images with the 50/1.5 C Sonnar on that camera series, the dreaded focus shift with this magnificent lens is much less objectional than with the ZM version of the same optic since the focusing helcoid is built into the body, not the lens.
What difference is that supposed to make?? The optics and aperture module moves back and forth as a single block, no matter where the helical sits.

The rumour mill takes on a new dimension apparently. Just as a matter of interest, where did you read that?

... also you get the same loud shutter from the bessa.

This isn't entirely accurate. The shutter unit in the Zeiss Ikon was modified at the request of Carl Zeiss AG and is quieter than the shutter in a Bessa.

However, I haven't handled the newer Bessas, so I can't say too what degree it is quieter. It is noticeably quieter than the old manual Bessas (L, R, R2, T).

I can tell you that from 1/60 to 1/2000, the shutter emits the same volume and pitch, which is a bit unusual because many shutters get louder and higher in pitch as the speed rises.

"Pigtail" ;-)

Damn!

I should have thought of that as I am very fond of pigs and have a collection of several dozen glass, china, metal and other pigs.

I've always like the story of an old farmer who said, "I don't like dogs, 'cause they'm servile, always looking up at 'ee. And I don't like cats 'cause they'm always looking down at 'ee. But a pig; ah, a pig'll treet 'ee as an equal."

I recently learned that it was apparently one of Churchill's favourite stories too.

Thanks.
