Ikont Super B one point focus and neutral density filters etc...

Hi all,

I'd like to be able to rig a neutral density filter on my Super Ikonta B..something I don't have to hold.

I know this presents some problems. Anyone ever figured out a decent way of doing this... I'm interested in shooting wide open, or close to it, in a variety of lighting situations.

Adapter...gels, custom glass filters...did they make ND filters in this 37mm size? (it is 37mm, correct?)

I can't even figure out how a "press on" anything would hold to this VERY small rim on the focusing element.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Hello Pete - The ZI 532/16 uses slip-on A37 filters. The original Zeiss Ikon A37 filters were on the thinnish side. The mount is probably the thinnest A37 available. The later Voigtlander style A37 were much thicker both depth wise and barrel wise.

I don't believe I've ever seen a set of Zeiss Ikon ND filters or a polarizer in A37.

Only ones I have ever seen were red and yellow, so I'm pretty sure you would have to rig it. How good are you at grinding glass? You might have to grind the edges down from a larger lens filter to fit it into a 37mm press on filter ring.

Kodak (and others, I bet) made "slip-on" adapters. I have used a 37mm slip-on Series VI adapter on a Super Ikonta Ib. Then find neutral density filters of the density that you need in Series VI size. Unless I'm missing something, this should work. Good luck!
