ilford developer....any use it?

My local lab uses ilford dev only.
I don't like the way Acros 100 or tmax looks with it.
Anyone have experience with it?
will these films look better with other methods?
It's prob not a good idea to judge a film with one dev method but I don't have other options right now, I would think that sending it away to NCPS would be better, quite a bit more expensive.
Until I can develop, what would be the best way to find out about these films? maybe ask the lab to use a certain developer?
One last thing, what would be a good film for ilford dev? (duh, maybe ilford film!?)😉
 
I never worried about the developer so much as long as I get the perfect exposure on camera. I shoot only Ilford Delta films but I have shot other films of course and I use and have used Ilfotec LC29, Ilfosol 3 and Tmax developers (locally available). I never saw any difference on the negatives or the prints.
When I push my film I use the Ilfosol 3 from the above developers.

It's interesting to hear what the experts think.
