Discovered this film, by chance, when I was in Beijing last fall. Absolutely wonderful surprise, once it was developed and printed -- very distinctive and wonderful grain, fantastic tones...basically, just what I always want to have my B&W images look like.
But, it's only in 'selected' markets. I'm a fan of Ilford products but this one in particular...does anyone know how to get this film, preferably without getting skinned alive on shipping?

Have you tried HP5+?

I think one of the Ultrafine films may be Ilford Pan 400. Otherwise there are plenty of eBay sellers.

Go over to APUG and post a note to Simon Galley, who is with Ilford management (Harman Technology) and is an active participant in the APUG forums. You may get an answer there.

Colin it is designed for warm humid parts of the world so...
Have you talked to your local supplier to see if they will special order it for you?
also found this link to a UK supplier (look towards the bottom of the page)

If that is true, why don't we get it here on the Gulf Coast? Half the US qualifies as warm & humid most of the year.

I've tried HP5+ and it is a nice film - however, I find Pan 400 really distinctive.
What I noticed was the grain - noticeable but a really pleasing look. Fine grained and sharp, but even when I pushed it to EI1600 it held together well
Basically, it's just personal preference and style that makes me take notice of this film...purely subjective.
