Ilford is taking orders for their annual run of non-standard sheet film sizes.

2.25x3.25”, 6.5x9cm, 3x4”, 3.25x4.25”, 9x12cm, 4x10”, 13x18cm, 5x12”, 6.5x8.5”, 18x24cm, 7x11”, 7x17”, 8x20”, 10x12”, 11x14”, 14x14”, 12x20”, 14x17”, 16x20”, and 20x24”.

...

they are in Belgium

though the list often says out of stock if you place an order they get it in (can cut any size as well), just a bit of a wait is all. ..

And they can deliver 3.25x4.25, yay! I'm in the process of acquiring a Graflex Speed Anniversary, shipping from Belgium won't do me in and it will save the cutting.

I might try LF with the Anni after all, and hack the shower to a temp darkroom

I have trimmed off .005 " off sheet film that was factory cut too wide with an old Basslar Rotatrim.

Put a matboard stop at the top for the long dimension and a tape hinge one for the short. The moveable one needs to be a width of the difference in dimensions so it is accurate.

Clip the upper right corner to identify emulsion side if you can not preserve the factory marking notches

cut some trial paper and make sure it fits your holder.

Take care not to scratch the emulsion if there is a plastic cover over the cutting edge.
Consider removal and using cotton gloves.

This is not a difficult task.

Thanks for that info Andrew.
I am bringing back a couple of half plate cameras to operational status. One should be ready in a week or so, the other one, well, much longer.
Two of the half plate holders have quarter plate inserts in them. I was thinking along the lines of making up 5x4 inserts, but half plate film would be more authentic.
I'd also love to be able to source some 122 film, even if it was only a few frames long. I have heard of some users cutting down a large sheet. The spool width is a smidge under 3 3/4 wide. I could get 4 frames from a 24" strip of 20 x 24 sheet.
I will ask to see if they would cut some strips like that for me.

I am west of the city, about 200K as the crow flies, over on Eyre Peninsula, just North of Port Lincoln. Its a bit more than a cut lunch drive by road up and around the 2 gulfs. 7 hours by car normally does it.

Thanks for your help
Cheers
Greg

Seems Sheetfilm.be is out of business, the website has been offline for over two weeks and tomorrow PayPal will reimburse me. Purchased 3.25x4.25 Ilford on September 25th and never saw the film, or heard from the seller...

So, I will give the 9x12cm Ilford from fotoimpex.de a try, or the 9x12cm Fomapan 100 from fotohuisrovo.nl.

Too bad, I wasn't planning on cutting it to size myself and will have to figure out the easy approach on that.

just an extra thought on the ilford 3.25x4.25 order at that date you mentioned...that date may have been too late to order..all those orders have to be by a certain date, i suspect that not many folk ordered that size

True and fair enough, but I never even got an email saying so, or my money refunded. There was not a single reply to the PayPal claim either, not to me or to the PP system. I fear the business is bust, and hope the owner is alright.

I'll look into the other website/company for you and if I find anything worthwhile, I'll post it up here.

Chippy,

click here for a pdf file that contains the current listing of wephota.de products.

Pages 15 to 26 contain film etc. but I have yet to figure out how to order. Seems all ordering is by phone only, and possibly it is Germany-only at the time. I'll enquire with them asap.

Interesting: They also sell ORWO B&W cine film by the meter, UN-54 and N-74. Anybody got a clue on how to rate these films, and what developer they might need?

glad to help Greg,
one or two half plate camera i have also have adapters for 5x4 (they came with the cameras, obviously it was something the old photographer's did many years ago as well, so yeah it is possible, easy enough.

Yup.My 12x15 Gandolfi has removabe adapters in the holders for 12x10, 8x10 and whole plate.

Cheers,

R.

Hi all,

I have done some research today (being sick at home, time to kill).

Seems Wephota only do business2business sales. That's why sheetfilm.be could order there, and we can not.

But, I found Lumiere Online Shop in Germany, that do deliver internationally, and even run an English languaged website. This link gets you to the Wephota product range, but they sell other brands as well. Best of all, they stock 3.25x4.25 Wephota 100ASA, 50 sheets for EUR 17.26, which is cheaper than sheetfilm.be was.
