I've just been given a 20 exposure roll of 35mm Ilford Super Colorprint that expired in 1970. The box speed is 64, and from a quick google I gather that it would have been a C-22 process, so if I were to use it I'd have to send it off for specialist processing. I'm told that, other than during house moves, it has sat in the same drawer for the past forty odd years. I wondered whether it would be worth trying to use such old C-22 film, and if so, what speed I should rate it at, or whether it's best off just sitting on my bookshelf as an interesting curio.
Any thoughts or advice greatly appreciated.

I can't answer the technical questions, but what have you got to lose by trying? OK, the photos may not look conventional or may not even be salvageable at all - but OTOH, you might have a serendipitous result!

I've processed old C-41 in XTOL and got useable (bw) results; it would be great if you could get colour, even if it is "interesting".

A Google search for "process C41 in C22" returns quite a few results, including this UK lab that still does C22 processing. There may be others.

Cheers Lynn - good advice. In the spirit of historical accuracy I've loaded it into my father's old Petriflex 7. Just need to wait now for some sunshine, which was something else I understand they used to have in "the old days" as well as C22 films and buttery smooth SLRs 😉

"The poor man's Contarex", eh? 🙂

In my youth, the Penta V was high on my lust list but I never got around to it and probably never will, now.

On the film, this chap has some useful tips, especially when it comes to seriously outdated material.
