I was lucky enough to get a personal tour around Ilford (Harman Tech) here in the UK today (I think the machinery was being repaired though so no running machines) & I was even invited back for a further tour when the factory is running.

I have to say it was enlightening as I have recently sold all of my camera digital gear and now only use film, which I was sort of 50/50 about until today...However now I'm glad as I was speaking to the guy there & he said that film isn't going anywhere fast and they are still getting big business due to people using film for archival purposes.

All that film lying around though...I wish I could have had it all :D.

I thought I'd make this post simply to help anyone on the edge of whether to swap back to film!

Good, innit? And REAL enthusiasts/experts, not bean-counters.

Cheers,

R.

Sure is mate, the man who met me (as I do delivery driving) was the one that took me around & he knew every bit of the machines & everything about the process of them.

He was so eager to give me some HP5+ when I mentioned its my favorite but he said it could put his job on the line.

Everyone I spoke to there though, even the warehouse men were interested in using film!

I tried to organise a trip there for our club but it was a no go but they sent film and dicount cards and "I love film" badges, i get 100' HP5 direct from them for £50 including delivery
