Ilford XP-2 pushed to 1600 ISO

I've used a lot of XP1 and XP2 over the years, and have never been happy with underexposed chromogenic B&W or color films. They just don't tolerate underexpsure IMO, and actually do rather well with up to a stop of overexposure. The overexposure adds richness to shadow tones and detail without blowing out the highlights. So, no, I would not recommend XP2 at EI 1600... Ilford sold their own developer chemicals kit for XP1 that was not quite the same as C41, but XP2 was made for standard C41 process. I've added developer time in home processing both kinds and just got higher contrast without much apparent gain in sensitivity. However, I have not tried them with regular B&W film developers as exemplified by Chris's excellent post at Photrio.
