Ilford XP2 - a little green?

Whilst chatting to a guy at a camera shop yesterday, he mentioned that they'd found that the Ilford XP2 seemed to print up with more of a greenish cast than they'd got with the Kodak C41 B&W. I know some of you guys get it developed but not printed, but for those of you who have tried both films and got them printed, any comments one way or the other?

(I know this subject has been a little bit done to death recently, but it's a little more specific this time.)

My experience has been that either film will have a color cast if the operator of the machine isn't careful. I don't know if XP2 rates its own channel on the typical processing machine but the machine where I take my fillm is a Kodak machine and the guy who usually runs it used to work for kodak and is a bit of photo nut himself. I try to make sure he does the processing and printing for me and have gotten pretty consistent results when he's running the machine. If he gets a different job I'll have to go back to the mail order house I use for my 120 stuff.
Any place that is good shuold be willing to reprint if you're not happy.

I use both and when done correctly both come out as they should, 'shades of grey'.
The only times I've had XP2 turn out differently is when the operator doesn't pay attention and I get sepia toned prints, but never green.

Funny enough, if I take XP2 to my local pro shop, it comes back with the previously mentioned sepia-tone. If I take it to a Ritz Camera one-hour mall store, they're perfect. (And 1/3 the price with a photo CD.)

I get XP2 with any tint from purple to sepia. Depends on the moon phase, obviously.
Usualy I order the cheapest prints, no development without prints, possible and scan the best which I print on a converted Epson Photo 750 with quadblack inks

It is supposed to be printed on black and white paper. It gives great results on the proper paper.

I have never gotten great prints from any C41 film direct from the processors ( ugly colour casts) and do as Socke does. I scan the negs and print with an HP 7960 to get results that please me. I have also heard the XP2 is supposed to be printed on B&W paper. I have been told by the local pro shop that they cannot get XP2 anymore. I hope that changes.

That is bad news, Bob - I was told the same thing last week.

Two products on which I have become reliant - XP2 and Ilford's Galerie ink jet paper are both apparently in short supply. They could not get XP2 for me and a 25 sheet pack of Galerie jumped $4 from $8 to $12.

Well, when there were rumors of Ilford closing thier film plant down many of us bought "bunches" to tide us over. I've got 20+ rolls still, in the fridge.

I use Vermont Color http://www.vermontcolor.com/index.htm
they do ok printing but good developing and the prices are very good. abd they pay postage both ways. At least here in the US.

Just out of curiosity, where do you send your 120 stuff???

Yes, I have printed those negatives in the traditional darkroom on B&W paper. The results were very good and have finer grain than T-max400
