I'll be in Lisbon

Well, from all I've heard from Porto and Lisbon, the old quarters are a must.

I'll probably spend some days there in a while as well 🙂

Oh well, I am not from Lisbon, and dont know it that well, but I would say you must visit the old areas like "Bairro Alto" (get some drinks there at night 😛), Alfama go listen to some "Fado" music, go see the castle S. Jorge, go see "Mosteiro dos Jeronimos" take a coffee during the day at "Adamastor"... hmmm if you really like historic "fairy like" places go one day to Sintra (no very far from lisbon, about 30 km or less), etc etc

At least one of the members here in RFF is from Lisbon, and if he gets online he will tell you good places to go and shoot 🙂 (he is having problems with internet)

I live on the northern part of Portugal, near Oporto, so cant help you any further...

I hope you enjoy your stay and like my country (not sure when you are comming here, but this year the winter is quite cold)

1 Don't miss the little old yellow trams.

2 The Castelo Sao Jorge is the location of that famous HCB image.

3 If you're into street photography at night try the Avenida da Liberdade - the big very wide street with trees each side.

4 And take a train ride out to Cascais, an old fishing village not far away. But much of it upmarket now. Trains leave from 'Cais do Sodre' station.

5 Centro Comercial Martins Moniz is the grottiest (most photogenic?) shopping mall you can imagine. Not old, but filthy dirty and obviously just for the immigrants from poorer countries.

That wide tree-lined street could be called Avenida da Republica. Sorry. Whatever it's called it starts at the big square called Restaudores (by the tourist office) and goes for about 1.5km to the large roundabout called Pombal (by the park).

thanks to all, I'll be in Lisbon in july for 5 days and, after that, I'll rent a car and I'll go in algarve, lather I'll post some photos

You can take the motorway from Lisbon to Algarve, but you might prefer going via Evora, not just for Evora itself but for the great landscapes and glimpses of life all the way.

In Algarve there are two 'not to misses':

Burgau, a little fishing port west of Lagos. Everywhere else in Algarve is concrete hotels and tourists but this is the real thing.

Cabo Sao Vincente at the very far western end of Algarve. Past Sagres. At about 08.00 or so when you're there by yourself you'll understand why this was called the end of the world for centuries. There's a lighthouse and very high cliffs.

thanks a lot I'll be in Cabo Sao Vicente but I didn't know Bargau before,
thanks a lot.
For sure I'll be also in Evora at the end of my trip of two weeks
