Hey, I searched for an "Illusions" photo thread, and found none. I hope it's okay for any Schmoe to start a photo thread.
I made this high-vantage pic a few days ago, testing my $10 Chinon Bellami 35mm compact. When I viewed it as a BW scan, I was amused at the illusion -- as if the dump truck was sliding over an embankment, with front wheels in the air. Due to light direction, there's no shadow under the front wheel, to anchor it to the ground.
I've never had a photo of this nature before, so, I don't know how common it is to make a photographic illusion (as opposed to a photo of a displayed illusion). I hope to see more.

Recently I took the photo below in which it looks as if the subject is running (or nearly running). In fact my recollection is that this is nothing more than an illusion created by her body posture as she weaves her way through the oncoming crowd of people. She was more or less hurrying but nothing more. I have reinforced the illusion in my Flickr post by the name I gave the image. And the effect is no doubt enhaced by the foreshortening effect of me using a slightly longer lens.

The same foreshortening effect can create a sense of crowing in a photo that I find works often in street scenes.

I think this image qualifies as an illusion too. A deliberately slow shutter speed and a bit of added blur in post create the illusion of extreme speed and frantic activity.

While here a deliberate double exposure captures an illusion of the sense of movement and flow that was present in real life but is usually lost in photos.

Good job, guys. I was afraid this thread might go nowhere.
Richard, I guess that's a ball passing through the frame?

It seems like the idea of the thread and the pictures fit within the concept of Surrealism, which often involved suggestive juxtapositions. Here are a couple of my recent images.

I am not sure if you would call this an illusion. But it kind of is. Look closely to see if you see the extra image in the shadow.
