Good job, guys. I was afraid this thread might go nowhere.
Richard, I guess that's a ball passing through the frame?
Yes. That was 1/500s only and I never noticed it till I saw it in Lightroom. I was aware of the kids playing nearby. The stopping of motion is not just the shutter speed but it must have bobbled around and just reached the height of a bounce in that 1/500s.

a difficult theme...not even sure if one can detect the "illusion"

nikon_sam, that crane image has several degrees of weirdness, which were not immediately apparent.
peterm1, yes, that shadow profile over other head reminds me of the classic published illusion, where you see either a witch, or a young lady.

While on the subject of photographic illusions I am rather fond of this image by Andreas Feininger (who was a Life photographer).

Shooter of Film...
I posted this photo on Facebook with the caption:
"I've always wanted a Porsche, even though its wrecked he still wants too much..."
A few days later I posted this:
"I went back to see if he'd be willing to lower his price but the kid was pretty firm...I got another shot of it...I so wanted this one..."
I had to explain to a few friends that this is not a real car, its a child's toy...
I hope this fits the thread...
