i'm curious...

For my most used gear:

I'm in the process of acquiring of 50mm lens which will be at M4-2 in addition to 35mm lens, but I'm starting to sell and safe for another film M body to have 50mm on it.
50mm and 35mm are my most used ones, I would love to have them on two cameras. With random used 90mm in between.

For digital I have two cameras and four lens.

It really doesn't matter which one comes first, because desired end state would be to have 2 bodies and 3 lenses -- 28-50-90.

Maybe I'm the oddball here, but different format maybe? That's how I always do... 35mm format with MF tlr or even 6x9 box camera. It gives you totally different perspective and composition. One you shoot eye level, the other waist/below level.

there are a few 'oddballs' here so you fit right in!

I can't do what you do, meaning mix formats. Kinda puts me over the edge. Either 135 or 120, never both. Also never shoot my Monochrom with any film camera. Really overwelms me.

On the basis that I have at least 2 lenses, with the same mount, then a second body could be useful. The reality is that I do have several lenses and two bodies for a couple of systems. It saves a bit of time and also (for digital) helps reduce the potential for getting dust on the sensor if you're in a hot, dusty, sandy country.

^^ this. Two bodies, one for bw, one for Portra or backup. Trouble is, I've done this for 3 mounts (all SLR) - can't resist <$10 thrift store bargains! I guess that makes me mount-agnostic..

I like 28/35, 50, 80/105. Three lenses are enough to carry. Sometimes too much.
