I'm done... (at least with one type of GAS)

It's time for another I'm done thread 🙂

I am finally done with my OM gears and GAS. I have all I need, I have all I wanted, All I need to do now is to grow into the full potential of the gears 😀

What warms my heart is that one of these is my wife's favorite camera (old timers already knows, I mention it quite often, newcomers, guess which one 🙂 ). I am so glad that my wife and I can share a hobby that can last a lifetime (well, until they stop making films, that is).

As for my other types of GAS, as some of the RFF'ers have shown as of late, I think I am also *almost* done 😀

I have been pretty comfortable for quite some time now, just making the occassional foray into local thrift shops, and not being disappointed if I found nothing, or simply glad if I did. I picked up the Leica Mini Zoom that way, and a couple of nice flash units, including a 283. Then I had to get a Minolta XG-1 with a Minolta 40mm lens mounted, and a Kiron 28-200mm zoom lens on the side.

Now what do I do? I have to admit it's cute, and fractionally larger than my ST 901. And with the 40mm lens, it is lighter. I have wanted another Sigma 600mm Cat for a long time. They are very hard to find in M42 mount, and are usually expensive when you see them. Maybe now ...

Never say never, though. I said "I am done" some month ago - because I had OM4ti/OM1 and optics from 16mm to 135mm, I thought it's enough. Today I must say that I have optics from 16mm to 300mm 😉
Btw, how do you like 2-13 focusing screen? I can not use 1-13 since I got 2-13.

Roland, the one on the lower left is my current favorite 🙂
The yellow coating is probably a unique signature of the 55mm/1.2.

I forgot where I got that, it's pretty nifty and helps the grip.

I see what you're saying, but at some time, I guess being done is a choice we have to make. To me, if I keep entertaining the GAS, then I won't be able to improve my picture taking skill which is the whole point 😀

Good grief, a 300mm f/2.8! What is the filter size of that puppy? Obviously great for available light. Neat. I didn't know such a lens was made.

I need to learn how to use that beast properly. First thing I understood is that handholding 2.3kg of iron and glass is near to impossible. Second thing is that my tripod is not sturdy enough to accept this burden.

Igor, from what I've seen and read, for a big and long lens like that, the better solution than even a mighty tripod is some kind of beanbag. This is a good illustration:

I have a cheapo Kimunor lens (looks like a baseball bat) at 500mm/8, it's a challenge not to have any vibrations in the picture.
