Also known as, where did all these Nikkor's come from???

So, as you may remember, after decades of being Mr. Canonista, I had a F2 waved under my nose at a price that I could not ignore.

A bit after that I picked these up:

28/3.5 Nikkor -H (much better than the net would have it)
50/1.4 Nikkor (late rubber ring lens. Glorious stuff)
80-200/4.5 Nikkor Zoom (This has me using a zoom? Happily?!?!? :eek: )

And I figured I'd be safe for awhile. HAH!

This evening I closed yet another deal for still more Nikkors. This time I'm getting:

35/2 Nikkor -O (ai'd)
55/3.5 Micro-Nikkor
105/2.5 Nikkor -P

Yeah, I know, it never really ends, especially when you discover something totally new (and Nikon really is that new to me. I never owned anything Nikon before the F2.) But, oy, the GAS is bad right now.

Oh my... and did I say I was done? Here I go thinking of accessories I need... DL-1, AR-2, PK-3, AS-1, DP-11 (!) ... ;)

The nasty thing about NAS isn't so much the lust for lenses (although that DOES get bad), it's the curiosity about all those accessories.

Ever used a K1 extension ring with a 20/3.5 AI? Or a BR-2A reversing ring with a 35 or 50mm? I could go on.

Of course, it doesn't help when Zeiss comes out with these ZF.2 lenses and Kodak comes out with Ektar and this new Portra.

Nikon makes a few, and then there are the hundreds (of thousands) of third party accessories. And what - you've got one body??? Nikon makes a body for every occasion, for every style, and most stuff is compatible - well, you can hook it up anyways - with every Nikon slr ever made. So get a second job, you're in for it!

Welcome to the fascinating world of loads of possibilities that is Nikon. I am sure you're already aware that in the event (unspeakable!! :eek: ) of your purchasing a Nikon dSLR, some of those "legacy" lenses are going to be compatible with it.

Which, indeed, opens doors to new ways of depleting your bank account.

BTW, that's a VERY nice collection of glass you have. Take care and take more pictures!! :)
 
The only way to stop buying is to stop looking. You can never "just look," you will always find a deal you can't pass up, or something that you absolutely need to have.
 
Hah, I have the same issue, except I have an F4s. Despite shooting primarily rangefinders and MF cameras, I now have:

24mm, 2.8 AI (too wide for my tastes, I've been meaning to sell this lens)
28mm, 2.0 AI'd (partially AI'd..)
35mm, 2.0 AI
50mm 1.4 AI'd (late version that looks like an AI lens)
50mm 1.8 D
85mm, 1.8 AF
105mm 2.5 AI

I really need to cut this list back down but I can't figure out which of the three widest lenses work best for me. I know the 24mm is out, but the 35mm and 28mm are hard to pick between. I originally wanted a 28mm 2.8 AI but those fell into my lap instead.

...all this and I'm mostly shooting rangefinders anyway! Ugh. Silly. I'm going to hold on to a few of these as I still use my D70s and F4s at times though.

Edit: I was recently given an F2. Looks to be in working condition minus a dent on the top plate that interferes with winding. If I can get that fixed, maybe I'll use that an an excuse to work with these lenses a bit more again.

Your not helping :bang: If it's still there when I get a little toy money again, I'll get it but right now paying for those three above have done a number on the toy budget... :eek: I got a good deal and all but still.

Actually, I don't think I've bought a new F-fit lens in half a decade or more. Then again, I have (not all Nikon) 14-15-35-45-50-90-135-200-300-600, and I've had 16-21-24-28-75-105-800-1200, plus a few zooms. I just prefer Leicas.Currently, not all Leica: 15-18-21-28-35-50-65-75-90-135. In the past, 12, 20, 24, 85, 100, 200, 400 (the last two Viso, of course).

I finally decided to consolidate all of my small format gear into one system. Sold most of my Nikon stuff, built up a Leica kit, and for awhile, I felt like I was cured.

Then, the other day, I go to an antique store and find an F at a great price.

Ok, so one 35mm rangefinder system and one SLR, that's ok right? But wait...that Canon FD 24/2 would be GREAT on my NEX! Now I need a 35mm body to use it with too. Ok fine, two SLR systems.

My god!

I've just hit the Canon/ Nikon wall myself. Having bought an AE-1 and AE-1 Program and and A1, I finally bought an FE and an FM (the latter for a ridiculous price). Someone stop the ride - I'm getting dizzy.....

Well, I sent in my "accessories" order today since there are a couple of normal things that aren't quite the same on my F2.

AR 2 CABLE RELEASE
AS 1 FLASH COUPLER (ISO TO F2)
DL1 PHOTOMIC ILLUMINATOR
PK 3 AUTO EXT RING 27.5MM (NON AI) (gets me to 1:1 on the 55/3.5 Micro)

KEH is going to be putting me on their Christmas card list before much longer... ;)
