I'm glad I'm old and don't mind outdated digital interfacing!

When I read the post in question in the original post here, I thought to myself "It's a good thing this guy didn't show up about two years ago or so. Then he'd really know what dated is."

I'm old but lurk/post on a few nonphotographic sites that use this same interface so I'm used to it and LOVE IT!

When I see a post like that I really have to wonder why some people seem to think it's ok to be relentlessly blunt/abrupt in that fashion? The moment you do it you paint a target on yourself and over the years I have seen a few newbies turn up here with that attitude and they generally don't last long!

Dear AOA,

I joined the internet web communities in the early 1990's using AOL dial-up. Yes, I know I was late to the party.

The point is, I've always managed to engage in conversation with people I will likely never meet. Through the years we have had a good time.

Imagine, and I'm not being a wise-guy here, if you actually had to go physically meet every single person you interact with on the internet? That would be pretty much impossible for this kid.

I can deal with whatever is in front of me and manage. I wish there were more people like me. This board seems to get by quite well, and that is a good thing.

Regards,

Tim Murphy
