My Red Dot Glows For You
Holy frigging wasabee! You are serious???
I wish nothing but a speedy recovery for you. Stay away from that computer. Eat your soup. Exercise. Drink plenty of fluids. Listen to your doctor. Listen to US...well, maybe you shouldn't listen to us.
Trust me, if I lived anywhere near you I'd stop by. Please take care, and no more green-eyed redheads.
Lots of rest. Lots lots lots lots lots. It's a great thing you're in a place where the doctors can take care of you like they know they should, not like some fat cat thinks they ought to.
And no more getting upset at spammers. Just give them the finger and blast them with a few keystrokes. OK, I'm starting to sound like my mother...your mother...that's what we Leo/Cancers do: smothering mothering freaks.
Get well. We're pulling fer ya.

Joe, as a survivor also, 2002 the next thing to a widowmaker, everyday gets easier. I had a blood clot cut off the supply to mine and since it was very healthy it caused me to have extensive damage. For you Dr's I had a deep vascular thrombosis. I have no blockages and never had styints or surgery but it took months to get back on track. Just keep your chin up and take one step at a time

i had a angioplasty through the groin!
sounds bad enough to skip a few donuts eh?
the diet part is gonna be the toughest part for me. i am the typical bachelor and even though i'm told that i'm a good cook, cooking for one is a pain.
but tonight i made some steamed fish and rice, later i'll have an approriate snack before bedtime, take my evening set of pills.
time for changes i guess.
again, thanks for the well wishes.

Time for changes for a lot of us Joe. I love to cook too, my diet down fall most of the time, too much time in the kitchen.
So, I am thinking that now that you are going to be home taking it easy for a month or so, you will probably double your post count huh?
I give it a week or so until I am passed, the last one still hanging in on the lead lap.
Just glad you are back.

Remember, smart eating can taste good too. Use your skills as a cook to help you get better.

Joe, remember that you are Italian and that Italian food as eaten in Italy is heart healthy. A little red wine, olive oil, green vegetables, fish, chicken (not southern fried), fruit and the occasional or permanent and caring green eyed redhead will prolong not only your life but the quality of it as well. I should add whole grains. And the stent should help greatly. We do not want to miss you again.
Good health, Kurt M.

yeah, the whole grains will be new for me.
i bought some multi grain cheerios and multi grain bagels today.
my biggest problem (besides loving all the deep fried stuff etc) is i hate most vegetables, ever since i was a kid.

Joe, I'm glad you're in good spirits and set on course for healthy livin' and recovery. I wish you the best.
I hate to be morose in this thread, but just yesterday, as a bunch of us were on constant refresh in the other thread, a notice was sent around the Little Rock photography community that one of its greatest friends and resources, Larry Polk of Pinkey's Photo Service, died of a heart attack at 62. Whenever I've mentioned the Favorite Local Camera Shop, it was Pinkey's., pretty much because of Larry. He will be missed greatly.
So that was the context in which I was reading your thread last night; I'm glad you're all right, and that you're back on RFF to bop us over the head if need be.

Sorry to hear that you lost a friend stet.
Just more reason for us, or those of us who need to do a little better taking care of ourselves, to get on the ball.

Very clever of you to sneak off and have a heart attack without telling us; of course we behaved with the specter of your omnipotent presence looming over us...had we known things would have been quite differentback alley said:(snip)...it will take me a few trips to the computer to catch up with what's happening here.
i hope you all behaved...

Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery. Sorry it had to happen but could not be more pleased with the outcome -- be well!!!

P. S. Forgive me, I'm getting caught up on posts. A heart attack and a birthday? That's not fair!!! Have a happy birthday, Joe. What a time it has been these past few days -- rest well and take good care during your recovery.

Joe, wow, I hope you have a speedy and trouble-free recovery. That's not the birthday surprise you want to have!
I haven't been able to follow this thread entirely -- been on the road -- but last night I did catch some of it and just before finally retiring for the night I somehow got the impression that you were found and OK. It was quite a shock to hear what actually happened.
In any case, I'm glad to hear you''re ok and got the treatment in time. Hopefully the next few b'days will be much happier.

i promise not to be a born again healthy lifestyle preacher to any but i will say this...in the vein of reality (notice how i worked that vein in there?), i'm not sure the pain i went through is worth the gooey, creamy, sweet, salty whatevers that i have been enjoying.
i know me and i know i'm not gonna quit 'the good stuff' overnight but i sure as heck will be looking at the whole moderation thing alot closer.

I hate to be preachy, but, at least you know I'm concerned. Regular Cheerios (not the honey nut or otherwise sweetened) is the best. They are made entirely of whole grain oats. with skim milk the most heart healthy of cold cerials.back alley said:yeah, the whole grains will be new for me.

For those cold winter mornings Wheatena is hard to beat as is oatmeal. Instant is fine as long as you stay away from the sweetened stuff. With regard to multigrain it can mean almost anything, but combinations of wheat, rye triticale (a wheat- rye hybrid), millet, corn, etc are good as long as they are whole grain. Stay away from mueslis and granolas as they are not only sweetened but frequently contain fats including trans-fats to give them body.
Reading the contents should be easy for all RFF'ers as that is what we do with films, developers, lens specs, camera specs, etc.
Healthy eating, Kurt M. (and get out with your P's and walk while the weather still allows it),
