I'm looking for 120 film camera similar to a leica M

The Super Ikonta 533/16 with a tessar 2,8 folds nicely and even though it is 50 years old it will provide sharp pictures with great contrast. I do though find that a TLR like a Rolleiflex automat or Rolleicord - both cheap to get from early 1950ties are easier and lighter to handle than the Super Ikonta.
>For modern leica like shooting the Texas Leica = Fuji 6x7 are great cameras

6x7 or 6x9 cameras aren't very compact. I love the 6x9 format, but I don't think of any of them as being especially compact. 6x6 is a nice street format though - they can fold up quite small and you don't have to concern yourself with orientation.

If it hadn't just sold, the Speedex Special "R" I put up last night would have fit the bill very nicely. It fits into rear pocket of my blue jeans nicely, has an uncoupled rf and is 6x6. Something like that might fit the OP's needs best.

Fuji 6x9

Fuji 6x9

A number of years ago Fuji made a 6x9 RF with interchangable lenses. It was a really fine machine and later they made three versions in the same body with fixed lenses in wide, superwide and normal lenses. Some were 6x7 and some 6x9. Fuli also made the 645 series in ultrawide, wide and normal and one with a normal lens was a folder. I owned the folding version and the 6x9 fixed 65mm cameras. All were superb with super sharp lenses.

I don't know how 120 format and compact can go together in one sentence when combined with "like Leica M6". I really think that one of your best bets is the Rolleiflex; perhaps the Rolleiflex Automat with an f/3.5 lens. They are very light, slightly quieter than a Leica, but not like "Leica M6" and not compact.

Compact when? Folded? All the time?

I may even suggest the Praktica 66, just because it is not as big as a Rolleiflex, cheaper than a Fuji or Mamiya, and has interchangeable lenses (Carl-Zeiss Jena lenses). Don't know if it's like "Leica M6" in terms of being quiet.

When I say compact 120 I guess Im talking about a "compact 120" camera. 120 cameras can be really big.

Thanks for your sugestions. THere are many options I see. Now Im going to study all those cameras and make a decision.

thanks

quality or handling? If you don't mind ttl viewing, how about a Hasselblad 500C/M? They are remarkably small for 6x6, and share many quality characteristics with Leica.
