I imagine this is a common sentiment at points in one's photographic experience. Tonight, I went out on the town to a (rather poor) candle light-up of Nishi-Umeda, Osaka. I brought the R-D1 and my new CV 35/1.2. I was with my date, so I didn't dwell on shots, but when I got home I was shocked at how well they came out relative to prior night work. Almost no manipulation required.

It's not me. It's the lens. Thanks to all those here who recommended it.
