January 26 is Australia Day, when we Aussies celebrate the anniversary of the day in 1788, when Captain Arthur Phillip (a pommie 🙂) took formal possession of the colony of New South Wales and became its first Governor.

Being a Thursday, this gives us a perfect excuse to take Friday off work, and make it into a 4-day long-weekend!

I'm going bush with friends, into the high country, and I hope I'll have some good shots to share when I get back. I've packed the M4, the Yashica 124G, and a digital for macro work on the alpine wildflowers. Hopefully the weather will cool down a bit and the recent run of bushfires will end.

Cheers to all, and especially you other Aussies - haveagoodweekend! Share your pics next week!

Actually it's serious fire season, several people have died down here (mostly trying to drive through the fire I believe). I think it's probably OK up Chris's way as they've sent their firefighters down here. But be careful. It's going to be 40degreesC tomorrow (I think 90F is 35C) for us.

Thanks,
James
