I'm on Henry Scherer's Contax list. I'll be getting a IIa, showing minimal signs of use/wear and a 50mm f1.5 Sonnar with unmarked glass, completely rebuilt and factory fresh, in about 6 months from now. That's how long his waiting list is!

Now I'm done. There's nothing else I want.

Actually Brett, I do have a Russian 35mm Contax mount lens, but I'm really a dedicated 50mm shooter, so I'm okay.

obviously the Contax is designed for a 50mm, and the Sonnar is a sweet lens.. I'm sure your future camera will be well received.. btw, did you reserve a black or color dial?

I went with a black dial, because it's less expensive, has a simpler more reliable shutter release mechanism, and due to my preference for available light.

Yes, Doug, Henry definitely impressed me as a straight-shooter. And no, Doug, those focal lengths just don't do anything for me. (50mm was good enough for HCB too.)

The last few trips I've been on I've taken a 21 and an 85 along with a 50/1.5; rarely ever shoot with the 85 (don't know why that is, either), occasionally shoot with the 21 and most of the keepers come with the 50/1.5 -- same goes with flash; I just don't rig a Contax up with flash that often. You have a really nice outfit coming...I hope you get a lot of pleasure from it.

Thanks Doug. Henry Scherer said an interesting thing: People respect the Leica, but they love their Contax. I needed some Yin to balance the Yang of the dark side. Looking forward to welcoming you soon to the list, Ralph!
