Why? (Well, those who know me wouldn't ask
)
A while back, when the rumours started flying about Agfa, I panic-bought a bottle of Rodinal. I've never used it (being pretty new to doing my own dev), but thought I might like to try it.
That time came this afternoon, and I had a length of HP5+ lying around.
Here's the freaky part: everything I've read suggests that HP5+ and Rodinal aren't exactly the perfect match (the consensus I gathered seemed to amount to "NO NO NO!"), but I think I really rather like my results.
The grain isn't at all scary, quite to my taste, actually. And I like the tones much. (With the caveat that at the minute I'm a scanner rather than a darkroom printer, so I guess I can't judge terribly well.)
The attached, although I hope you'll forgive me that they weren't shot with an RF (K1000 with 50/1.7), were 5:30 at 21C, agitating first 30s then one inversion every 30. Please excuse the less-than-art test roll subject matter
(The weird temp is because I was in a hurry and that's what I got it to before I had to just do it.)
And yeah, I'm pretty sure I may be the only one who likes this look!
/edit: should have said, although from the times it's probably obvious, dilution was 1:25.

Good question....
Let's just say thta HP5 in Rodinal suits my taste as well
Small grain is overrated

PS. these were taking with a Nikon SLR at Indianapolis US GP last year
The deatil was scanned at 2700 dpi

My M5s need red dots!
I concur with Mark here.

D'oh!
I really like HP5, but I develop in D76. ButI keep moving to larger formats to control grain in low light situations. I see a Graflex Crown Graphic in my future . . .

I've also developped HP5+ with Rodinal 1+25 once. But since I'm not doing wet print (I mean, not yet), I couldn't really tell if the result was as terrible as so much people say on the internet. Once scanned, it was quite pleasant for me but I'm not sure I can judge from a scan.

Well-known
HP5+ is booootiful in Rodinal at 1+25, 1+50 and 1+100
Although I will confess I'm playing with ID-11 again for the first time in years
If it wasn't for grain how would we know it's hand made?

You must be a weirdo if you drink Hoegaarden ;-)
I like the look of your (small) images and they have a nice bokeh.

My wife is the Hoegaarden drinker - I don't drink any kind of beer. I'm a whisk(e)y manjorisbens said:You must be a weirdo if you drink Hoegaarden ;-)

It's a while since I've used that kit, but I love the bokeh on the 50/1.7
/edit: for reference here's a 100% crop from a scan (on a flatbed) at 3200dpi.
