I'm ready to print

Thanks everyone again for all your help and support. I called epson, they walked me through reinstalling some newer drivers. I updated my macs software and in the printer and fax preferences I had to just right click the printer and reset printing system. Added the printer back and it's now working. As for the colors, they're pretty damn spot on from my monitor if you ask me. I didn't calibrate anything. Could it be because of the ICC settings and the monitor that I have?. I did use Chris's printing process which you can find here... Chris's process.

You don't use Ilford's profiles with Quadtone RIP. You have to use the ones that are specially made for QTR. Some get installed when you install QTR, if you want a paper that doesn't have a profile installed, you have to either make one yourself (requires a spectrophotometer at $1000 or so) or pay someone to do so, or check the yahoo group for QTR and see if someone's made a profile for the paper and your printer. Lots of people there have made profiles and uploaded them free.

Ilford's profiles are for the Epson driver ONLY. Also, QTR does not have a 'disable color management' option, it is not needed because of the way QTR works.

I don't know for sure, never used it with QTR. You might see if you can find a profile for either Ilford Galerie Smooth Gloss, which prints very close to it using the Epson driver (I used both papers many years ago before QTR came out), or Epson Premium Semigloss.
 
Yea I know that for sure lol. I'm printing with the Ilford Profile on assigned to the Epson printer at the moment since I can't find an ICC profile to match the QTR. I am having a problem centering my image on my 13X19 and wasted two sheets of paper. What I do is this....

Set up an 11x17 document and place my image on that. then I made a 13X19 template where I would then take the 11X17 document and place it on that. I'm doing this for presentation. So basically the image is 11X17 sitting on a 13X19 Print. When I go to print it doesn't come out the printer centered with the epson driver. It us was low and to the left. And I have my setting on Center image.
 
It is almost impossible to center a picture on the paper, the drivers are designed so that the 'printable area' is smaller than the paper size and is usually off center to boot. Nothing you can do, and its not important anyway. Once matted and framed, no one will know.

This sounds like a complex way to do something very simple. Why not just center your 11x17 image on the paper? As Chris says, it is not perfect but I find it very close so that it makes no difference. Also, the print preview function will give you a good idea where it will be on the paper before printing and wasting another sheet of paper.
 
Thanks guys. I tried the 11x17 option and that didn't work at all. I tried printing in the Quadtone rip and it centered it like perfectly. However, I couldn't use my ICC Profile for the Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl. Can't seen to find one to use for Quadtone Rip. Does anyone have or can recommend a close ICC Profile that I can use.
 
OMG! So I've been up all night experimenting and wasting ink and some paper. Sucks I know. But I choose an option called Super B13X19 and it centered my image spot on using the Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl Paper and Epson Profile. Anyone ever use this? Is this an ok size method of doing this. Again 11X17 image on 13X19 canvas.

If you were previously not using Super B which is 13x19, your printer was trying to center your image on what it thought was some other size paper. Again, just centering the 11x17 image is the standard way. I am not sure what you are trying to do when you specify the 13x19 canvas.
 
What I wanted to do was center the 11X17 image on the 13X19 paper so that it can have white borders. I tried centering and printing the 11X17 using the A3 function and 13X19 function but it just didn't work. It printed it completely off center.

A3 is not 13x19. (Super B is) Your printer was centering your image on what is thought was 11.7x16.5 paper. Actually, A3 is a perfect sized paper for me as I never print larger than 10x12.5 but it is only available in a limited number of papers. Possibly it did not work when you specified 13x19 custom paper size because you are unnecessarily printing a 13x19 canvas and it knows there are some unprintable sections along the border of the paper. Is it possible that your problems are a result of your trying to complicate otherwise simple tasks?
 
I think I completely complicated things for myself and being that it is resolved now it still left me with an empty photo black cartridge. I'm completely new to printing but I don't know what I though A3 was 13x19. I really should have researched this first. Thanks again all.
