I'm really tempted by a bessa R from cameraquest

I have no personal experience with that 50/1.5 but what I've read and heard is not overly positive. Most seem to say that this lens is not as nice as the J-8 in many ways: harsher and less smooth.

It is quite a lot more expensive as well. I've seen it offered here in Holland for 75-125 euro, which IMO is about 50-75 euro too much.

Peter, Kurt, I can't find the thread but not so long ago there was athread about the J-8 and the age of the different models.

Remy I thought I read somewhere that the first two digits of the serial nr. on a Russian lens was the year of manufacture...

Here is an approximately 60% crop (40% removed) of a picture I took of my daughter last week on the same roll as the previous shot with the J-8 wide open. I know she looks 15 but she is 31 and a physician. She was here on a week long visit.

The latest Harry Potter. I took another shot with the book perfectly focused and my daughter slightly out of focus.

again some amazing quality, I'm amazed how simple pictures that should look casual are some great surprises.

Laurent,
late entry in the advice......

Yes there are plenty of good lenses available (so many in fact that many of us suffer from lensitis - collecting too many of the damn things)
But the CV 35/2.5 is a beauty, and in conjunction with the Bessa R at the current deal it's pretty much an unbeatable deal. And as a unit it works so well, AND it comes with a warranty - which is always a good thing.
The R & 35/2.5 (and a 75/2.5) is the combo that got me into rangefinders, although since then I've got increasingly silly.
If it was me, I'd buy that setup to start with, then branch out into whatever else takes your fancy. (Russian lenses, additional CV lenses, odd old cameras, Leicas......)

cheers...

tim

HI Tim

Thank's again for your few words. I'm gonna soon become rangefinder addicted !
You all convinced me for the bessa R with the CV 35 / 2.5
I'm gonna send my order tonigth !

(BTW, thank's for the nice things for my girlfriend)

Cheers, Laurent

waouu, well done Jordi.

So many gifted people on the forum ! I hope it will be contagious for me

Jordi, I like that one! Excellent exposure and tonality. Even though it can be seen as two separate pictures, I like the combination. Were you leaning against the wall for support? 🙂

I like it. And the fact that it is two separate pictures in one is all the reason I like wide angle lenses.

Nicely done. (of course now you are expected to fill your gallery with similar quality images....get to it son...🙂

Laurent, I'm new to this forum so I hope I won't ruffle any feathers when I say that Jupiters get you what you pay for. Kurt's picture appears fine in the center and field at the online resolution but I doubt that it can hold itself at 11x14. Even at online resolution its quite soft on the corners and that for a 50 is capital sin. A [good] 35 is much harder to manufacture.

Get a Voigtländer Color Skopar "Classic" 35/2.5. It's a superb lens as 35's go and at the current price unbeatable. I no longer have mine but found some old negatives from 2000 that show excelent detail to the corners, great color fidelity, nary distortion and great chromatic performance (virtually zero comma and only a trace of primary chromatic aberration noticeable outside of the 24mm field). I'll try to upload a couple of scans showing this lens performance although just now I don't know how.

Thanks guys! you make me happy. I don’t believe, when I saw, what the camera could take this part of my.

I'd like to upload this and other images to my gallery, but I can't do it as a week ago. Can someone to help me?

This image has taken in the gothic Barcelona, obviously, with my new Bessa R + CV 35/2.5 with Ilford Delta 3200 at night without tripod and I don't recorded anything.

Hey jordi, i don't know if you processed your delta3200 yourself, but if you did, congratulations to your darkroom skills also. Looks amazing for a 35mm frame. If it was a lab, stick with them! 🙂

Welcome, Jorge (m trevino) 🙂 (i know you from your great photo.net contributions!)
