I'm so excited! I just bought my first M

It's an M5. Yes the ugly duckling of Leica. What I like about it is the 8mm spot meter, the last of the hand machined, hand fitted M's and I can use it as a weapon if need be LOL.

It should be mailed tomorrow and hopefully in my hot little hands in a week or so.

I have some LTM lenses that I use on my Bessa so will be buying the adapter PDQ.

Ok, so who's going to teach me the secret handshake?

CONGRATULATIONS!

I won't say welcome to the Leica fraternity because it appears you're already in it by ownership/use of LTM glass. But I clearly recall the thrill of my first Leica body and I am enthusiastically happy for you. Others can say what they wish but to me there is nothing like a Leica body. Bessa and current Zeiss are nice and definitely serve their purpose (and yes I have owned both) but they simply are not classic Leica bodies and don't have that Leica classic feel to them (so, CV/Bessa/Zeiss RF dedicates, call me an outdated Leica antique guy. But if you must, well then I think you might never really understand. It isn't a competition, it is a character, a feel).

Congratulations on your new, your first (!) M-body!

I hope, you will have much fun to use and fondle it.
Last weekend I had the opportunity to handle a M5 and I really liked the way to use and hold it. It is a sad history that the M5 never got the reputation of the classic M-sisters.

congrats to your M5. It is a great camera !

A little bit more than two weeks ago I purchased also my first Leica . It was also a M5. I decided not to buy at eb.. but in a shop and checked used Leicas from M6 - to M4 which were in my budget. it was the first look thru the M5 finder and I knew that is my camera. 😉 .
Btw. the old argument it is too huge can´t be true – I also bought a M8 neoprene camera pouch it fits perfectly 😉

Hey Eric -
Congratulations - I just got my first M - an M5 as well - a couple of weeks ago.

It really is a fantastic camera. My DSLR and other cameras have sat idle for the past month.

Now, the only question is....what's your NEXT purchase? ;-)
