I bought Rod Fung's GRD II yesterday here on the forum.

Rod lives WAYYYYYYY on the other side of the continent in the U.S. Pacific Northwest (if memory serves correctly).

I bet that Rod's GRD II will get here and be in my hands before Leica can finish replacing my sensor and circuit board on the M8 that they've had "in repair" since May 13. (thanks to those who've advised I contact a particular person in Customer Service as that has been done).

Any takers? I'm giving 3:1 odds 😀

Cheers,
Dave

P.S. that's May 13, 2008 - just so ya know.. 😉

Too bad Youxin does not repair M8's. Probably does, but only in his worst nightmares. I'd be able to send him a Leica III, have it CLA'd, and returned to my house in less time than it will take for your new camera to arrive.

Brian, I wouldn't be surprised.. 🙂

That said, someone should have taken me up on my bet - I just checked this morning and I noted that repairs have been completed and "shipping in progress" is now noted on the Leica repair tracking site. Mind you, I'm impressed by Leica's prognostication ability; the date associated with the completed repair and shipping is tomorrow's date, June 12, 2008.

Go figure.

Could it be the approx 9hrs time difference? I mean my grandmother's probably preparing dinner already... in Manila 😉

Potentially - that is, if the Leica Elves knock off of work early - because it's only shortly after 3:00pm there now - they still are in today's date. If Leica was located in, oh, say Brisbane; then maybe I'd allow them the leeway to see (and travel) into the future.

I mean, sure there's that "magical Leica glow" and all that but time travel is not something they should be toying with - especially when you consider the M8 😉

So the GRD II will find its way to me before summer is over? 😀 He he

hehe.. well... right now I'm considering this to be a race..

If Leica is able to get it back to me as quickly as they received it (sent April 29 - they had it in their system and online by May 5) then the M8 may actually beat the GRD II to my door.

I feel like I'm watching the Belmont or Preakness or Derby!! 😉

In all seriousness, I hope that all's well with the camera when you get it back.... after reading the many posts about the M8 issues (or rather traits?) it was a big leap of faith for me to purchase one...
knock on wood - nuthin' yet...

So good wishes to you upon receipt 🙂

I'll be pleased as punch if there's nothing wrong with it once I get it back.

Thanks for the good vibes 🙂
