This lens like totally ROCKS! Anyone else have one?

The 35mm P2 and 28mm Ultron are becoming my two favorite pieces of glass. The P2 has a wonderful three dimensional quality to the pictures I shoot with it.

Anyway, here are two examples I've done using it.

Comments and observations welcome.

Zeiss is nice, too!

Zeiss is nice, too!

That's what I said... these were taken with the Cosina Voigtlander 35mm f/2.5 Pancake II, the one that comes in M-mount.

For a newbie, you sure have some nice glass there. The Zeisses are super, too. The 21, 25, 35 Biogons and the 50mm Planar! WOW! That's my "wish list".

;-)

Those CV lenses are so cheap I am thinging about them 🙂 they are also very small :bang:
btw, which film did you use? and how did you scan it? 🙂

Wanna trade???

Wanna trade???

You want to trade my Voigtlanders for your Zeisses? ;-)

The film is Fuji Sensia or Super HQ ISO100 color print film. It's superb and very cheap. The scans where done by the lab I use. I just resize them for posting here.

AFAIK all the CV 35mm/f2.5 lenses are optically identical. So you would get the same results with the LTM Classic and Pancake 1, which has no tab. Mechanically the only difference is that both the Pancake 2 and the Classic will focus down to 0.7M, the closest focus the Pancake 1 can attain is 0.9M. I think these lenses have many fans on this forum. The attachment is from my Pancake 1.

While the original screw mount CV Pancake I and 35/2.5 C share the same glass. The later M mount Voigtlander 35/2.5 PII is a different optical formula.

The 28mm Ultron is simply spectacular, too!

The 28mm Ultron is simply spectacular, too!

I've been using the Ultron, too.

It's simply the best 28mm I have ever owned.

Here are two shots I made with it which are part of the series I am doing on this warship.

It isn't the smallest lens in the Voigtlander line-up, but it's not all that bad... about the same size as the old Leitz 28mm Elmarit.

Very nice!

Say, how did you get your shot to display right in your post and mine show up only as thumbnails?

damn you! 🙂
Now I want these, NOKTON classic 40mm F1.2, 35mm P2, 28mm Ultron and nokton 35mm f1.2 😱 :bang: 🙄

Just go out and shoot some pictures, Vladimer. You don't need any Voigtlander lenses. You already have a set of very nice wide angles.

And while you are at it, post the results here someplace so we can all see them!

I am curious about how the Zeiss "look".

Well the master has spoken! 😉 Actually I did a little bit of reading this morning and Stephen is right, although the difference in the optical formula is "barely discernible" according to some. Here's a mini-review of the PII that was posted not long after it came out.

Actually, there is a difference between the P1 and P2...

I've owned the original Pancake. Although is it an excellent lens (and certainly better than the 50 and 60s vintage LTM Canons including the legendary Canon 35mm f/2) it doesn't have the "pop" and "3-Dimensionality" of the Pancake II.

It's hard to describe, but you can definitely see it in the prints.

Here are two scans of earlier work I did using the Pancake I.

Nice! I must confess that I keep my P1 because it doesn't have a tab, not just because its a good lens. I hate tabs, although I have a 35mm lens with one.

Me too. I'm trying to post some 35mm pancakes with no luck

Here's an interesting comparison

Here's an interesting comparison

I was going over some of my pictures from this series I am doing and found one I shot several years ago with an old Canon 28mm f/2.8. Then I have another photo I did more recently standing in just just about the same spot but this time with my Voigtlander 28mm. The picture with the older couple was done with the Canon.

You can see the difference. The Cosina lens is much sharper and has superior "pop" and contrast. It's also much better to the corners. The old Canon exhibited noticeable falloff to the edges.

I would like to see what other people have been doing with their Cosina lenses... specifically the wide angles... 21mm through 35mm.

interesting

interesting

I agree the 2nd has more "pop" and contrast. But which is more color accurate (assuming the film and all is the same). Was the ship painted? There is also a post that was chopped off. They're different photos, the air, water, and paint have all changed over time.

No question marks ... Works in some forums and not in others.
