Import duties and such

Would anybody here be able to tell me the surcharge on import duties and tax on stuff shipped in from the US.

I live in germany by the way, would be most gratefull....
 
If it's anything like the UK you'll have to pay standard rate VAT and import duty. In the UK that's approx 17.5% and 8%. Then you'll have to may the agent's fee for colledting the duty - that's approx 12 Euros.

Not everything shipped by post gets stopped. If it's shipped via Fed-Ex it will be - you'll get an invoice from Fed-Ex.

Some people try to avoid paying the duty by stating on the box that it's a low value gift item. I would imagine this would void any insurance you take out as the insurance cost is normally related to the value of the goods being shipped.

You'll pay 16% VAT and about 4,2% for a RF.
As a rule of the tumb, the price for cameras and lenses in $ is about 1:1 the price in € after customs + shipping costs
