Hi, has anyone in the UK had to pay tax on a new r-d1 impoted from matsuiyastore in Japan, if so how much? (or any other high value product from the same store)
I am thinking about delving into the world of digital RF.
Many thanks,
Tom

tell the dealer to show it as low price in the bill.
and if it is stuck in customs go and tell the customs officer that this is an old camera.
worked for me paid only one euro.

In Germany, the customs officers also monitor ebay and you are requested to present an invoice, order confirmation or print out of the ebay auction when picking up the camera from the customs office.
AFAIK, there are no custom's fees on digital cameras imported to Europe, only VAT.
Best regards,
Uwe

You should pay 17.5% VAT plus 4.9% customs duties if i'm not wrong.Hi, has anyone in the UK had to pay tax on a new r-d1 impoted from matsuiyastore in Japan, if so how much?...

Beware that many sellers invoice a lower value than the actual one but penalties can be up to 100% of the amount evaded and the invoiced value will be the same for insurance which is hardly a deal needless to say.
