I love my voigtlander 21mm lens, but hanker after something just a shade wider. I think the 15mm would be too much, and ideally would like something around 18mm

I know Zeiss do one but its expensive
Its a shame voigtlander are missing here
Can anyone suggest other alternatives

CV had shown thier 18mm but did not produce it. Do not fear the 15mm, while she is wide and takes some getting used to, she is a fine lens. Mine is a part of my Leica carry kit (M6 w/15, 40, 105 and a M4-P or L with a 25 on it). It's take me a while to get use to the 15 but it's a lot of fun. A very unique perspective.

With the R4A a 21 might be a better choice as you have a built in finder. Some times less is more.

I have both and 15 gets almost all the use. It is true, calculated both for Epson RD1 and Bessa R3m. But still...
I like that is not the wide on the SLR feeling. That ultra-wide madness with a lot of distortion. It has little distortion and is good tu use for architecture. I also use it for no-looking candids, because of the big DOF, and easy hyperfocale using.
And, after all, you can allways crop, if you really need it.

It's funny- I shoot more with the 50mm than all my other lenses combined- yet I have the 15mm, a 21mm, a 25mm, and a 35mm. I almost never use the 15mm or the 35mm. The 21 and the 25 split my wide angle shooting about 60/40. (I might get the new coupled 24 f4 P lens, and I suspect that would reduce how much I use the 21mm.) I had a 15mm a few yearsa ago, and sold it. After a while, I bought another; even though I don't use it much, there are times when nothing else will get the shot. So I keep it and carry it for those moments. I know this might not be much help with your situation, but if you can afford it, get a couple of lenses. The 15 is fantastic, and priceless when you need it. But IMO, a 21mm or 25mm will make a more useful regular wide angle lens.
