i have 2 series vi hoods/lens shades without the adapter needed for fitting onto a lens.
i just got a vented hood, a kenko, very nice shape, but the adpter looks like it's for a 39mm filter size. the adapter reads k6/35-2 on the rim.
the other hood arrived without an adapter altogether. (i knew this when buying it).
so, i'm looking for an adapter that will fit either 40mm or 34 mm, but preferably a 40mm.
i am seriously hoping someone has an adapter without a hood or desperately needs an adapter that fits 39mm.
willing to trade, buy or wash your car.

I have been looking too. For either a push on 42mm from Series VI or a 40mm screw in. I thought I scored one, but alas I was wrong. I am getting quite a collection of Series stuff though. It will never fit anything I will ever own, but hey....

rover,
you're looking for the whole thing (hood) or also just the adapter?

Just an adaptor or two. I actually won a small round Series VI hood. I think it will work well on the 35/2. It is a lot shallower than the square 50/1.9 hood which amazes me that it doesn't vignette with a 50.

ah.
you have a 35/2? not the canon? no the summi...yes, i think that one.
i bought a hood with no adapter and another with a 39mm ( i think) adapter.
so i now have 2 useless hoods, as i 'stole' one 40mm adapter for the one that had the 39 on it.
but the one hood (with 39mm adapter) is a very nice vented hood which looks great on my 35/2
i'm getting confused with all this chatter...

I will take another look through the filter pile and see if i have a 42mm push on, It seem to ring a bell but then I think I hear voices too. What kind of Series VI stuff do you have most of my stuff uses Series V or VI stuff and I am missing some. :bang: Dave

I will make a list of the adaptors and things. I have some filters too.

Well that was a premature post. I just looked at the hood, I think I need to keep it for now. It fits well over the 50/1.5 with 40mm filter threaded in. I can't use a regular filter with the other two hoods I have.
Ok, I also have...
A Series V NO. 54 adaptor which I think is a Bay 1 size, it fits a bay one lens (Autocord), but it is tight.
And now I have two Series VI retaining rings, one is threaded for Series VI for on both sides, the other is just threaded on one.

A 39mm Adaptor ring for Series VI with a beat up looking retaining ring in it.

Actually, I may be set with adaptor rings. I have one Push on 42 on the square hood and one 40mm ring on the round hood. I forgot I found one of those. I thought I had one coming in one of these lots I bought but it was the 39mm adaptor. That is why I thought I needed one.
If anyone needs this stuff let me know. It is all up for trade/sale what ever....

Hi Joe,
Information only -- Tiffen made an adapter that did what you want. The number is #603, it is identified as an adapter ring series #6, but nowhere does it say 40mm. I have one on a Kodak series VI lens hood and it fits the Canon lenses nicely.
Good hunting, Paul C.

thanks paul
i need to check out a few places on the net.
i doubt that adapter would still be in production so finding one will be an adventure.

Not an adventure at all Joe, a done deal. In the box of 115 Tiffen series adapters I bought a few months back, I just happened across #603 still on original cardboard card. For some reason, the person I bought these from stored them in a shed so the brushed aluminum (???) rings have a bit of corrosion or discoloring on most, but the black steel (?) adapter part is very nice. Contact me with your address and it's in the mail. Best part is I have so much clutter I'm sorting thru right now, that it's free.

from my original question...
i'm wondering if anyone knows what this WILL fit?
the adapter reads k6/35-2 on the rim.
according to my handy little metal ruler it looks like it measures in at 39mm but it does not fir inside a 40mm rim. it sits on top of that same rim.
could this be a 40.5 adapter?
help,
joe
