It is time I pay tribute to Youxin Ye, Leica repairman in the Boston area: For several years Youxin has worked on my M and screw mount Leicas. He has always been reliable, fast, fair priced, and above all, 100% honest. Furthermore, as a Leica collector himself, he has incredible historical knowledge and a special love for the cameras. He does not have a website; however, very quick in replying to email: wye7@yahoo.com

I'll second that. Very responsive, turn around time on 3 or 4 of my cameras has been less than 3 weeks. That's including shipping. Prices more than fair.

My grandfather's Leica IIIf feels wonderfully smooth after being touched by Youxin Ye. I know it'll be good to go for many years.

Let me add on to this thread. I just got back my M2 from Youxin, and he was so prompt and patient in responding to my queries. Excellent work in repairing the film advance lever, cleaning up the viewfinder, new leather, and a complete CLA. the turnaround time from Singapore was less than 3 weeks. Simply superb.

it's time to go out and shoot the Arista Premium 400 that's been rolled... :)

another one for Mr Ye.
He worked on 2 busted M3 and restored them wonderfully, and fixed my M4.
his turnout i fast, prices low and he is a very patient and pleasant to talk to.

I'll join the crowd here. I recently sent Mr. Ye an M4-P for a full CLA. He actually did the work the day he received it, and I had it back in about a week, in beautiful shape. He can't be that quick all the time, but I am very impressed!

Bought my first LeicaM2 from him on ebay. He had done a CLA, guaranteed the work, and when something went wrong - I think the slow speeds were sticking - he had me send it back and repaired it very quickly. It's one of my favorite cameras today. I THINK he did the CLA on the black paint M4 I picked up from digitalintrigue just a couple of weeks ago. It's warranted by him for a whole year! And works like a Leica should - buttery.

Youxin CLA'd my M2 and 50/2.0 cron and finished it within one day of arrival at his house. Excellent businessman and the nicest guy around.

Does Mr. Ye handle any Canon bodies? I realize this is in the M camera forum, but just curious.

While I agree Youxin is very good and great to deal with he can be a little over enthusiastic with lube.

I have an M2 that sits in the cupboard mostly after being CLA'd by him a year ago ... when I took it out the other day to use it there was oil on the shutter curtain that had run down from the top of the camera. I cleaned it off but it hasn't done the shutter curtain any favours and will probably have shortened it's life somewhat!

why would the slow speeds be sticking after a CLA? it's not much of a deal if you have to send it back to have the previous work re-done.

I had the same problem. he explained he had some issue with the type of oil used for a period of time. I sent it back and he fixed (after a year) and installed new shutter curtains. He had it back to me in a week total time - he stands behind his work.

That's nice to know ... hopefully I caught it in time and the effect on the curtain will be minimal.

The issue for me would be a trip to the US and back for him to remedy any problem with the camera will not be cheap in itself! :)

Yeah indeed I totally agree, and I had my two Leica IIIf RD ST and my Leica M2 sent to him for full CLA, he did great job on them all.

I would also add that Youxin is very honest and highly knowledgeable on the Leica System.

Excellent Leica Repairman

Here's another vote for Youxin's excellent work. I'm fortunate that I am an hour's drive away and can go over there on the weekends if I have a problem.

Well, it wasn't my camera originally, but an M2 that he had for sale. I guess it was my assumtion he had done a CLA on it before sending it out -- I really don't recall. Not sure why the slow speeds were sticky, but it was a none issue for me as the problem was quickly fixed.
