They have a free trial. It will get rid of that cyan cast in your image.
 
Thanks for the link Huss. Not sure I'll give it a go yet as I don't have lightroom so there's that cost too.


With regard to the image, I think it may be "correct" but mixed lighting. The background that's in full sun and the people in the foreground seem balanced better (the helmet and black bag look right to me). The shadowy bit around the cyclists is blue as you'd expect.

You can email me your raw file and I can run it through negativelabpro and post the result.
The skin tones are really not good. On the people in the fore ground and the bicyclists.
 
fyi makes sure to 'scan' the image with a preset WB like sunlight, not AWB as the camera has no idea what AWB to set for an image that has a strong orange base.

I think I can maybe get closer with a simple adjustment of my image so its partially my eye for colour too.

No prob. What is awesome about NLP is that the conversion took 3 clicks.
Before NLP I built my own profiles, but still spent an awful amount of time trying to fine adjust everything and I still often did not get a great result.

Back to Lomo 800 - really a good film. And was a great deal until recently. Such a bummer that they raised the price from $15/3 rolls to $20. But still worth it.
 
Yep, much nicer to my tastes than Portra 800 and still cheaper by about 30% here after the increase.

I bought some Lomo 400 to try today. I've gone off Portra 400 too...

In stock, but same price directly from Lomography. 🤷‍♂️ Not that many options left for (daylight balanced) 800 ISO color. I guess Kodak Portra 800, which is currently cheaper per roll than Lomography 800 - B&H sells single rolls for $17.95. Flic Film's Aurora 800?

For what it's worth (pun intended), I bought my 3-pack of Lomo 800 in June 2020 for $51.80 USD.
 
I didn't manage to get some during the 2023 120 "sale" and last Christmas period I passed by a store where 120 is nowadays sold individually... welp, at Portra prices.

I've always thought so. Portra 400 is supposed to excel pushed, and some photographers' reviewed it better that way than Portra 800. I am a medium format shooter so ISO 800 in color tended to be counterintuitive for my uses where I'd just tripod down. Pushing P400 was always an option that I never ended up taking.

Not the thread really, but online a lot of people appear to love Portra 800.

Makes sense. From what I’ve seen, pushing Portra in general will mute the colors a bit. Still creates some nice images.
