In praise of the Olympus XA

All hail Yoshihisa Maitani, the designer of several of my favorite cameras: Olympus OM system, Olympus Pen, and the XA range. A true innovator. I like to carry an XA and an XA-4 with me when I travel. That way I have excellent 35mm and 28mm cameras with me, both of which fit in a single pocket! I use the XA for general photography and the XA-4 for in close work like in Street markets. Great cameras!

I have another broken XA (rangefinder window fell out, obstructs the clamshell operation), an XA2 that continues to work well despite treating it poorly, and an XA4 in for repair for a broken shutter button that I fear may not recover.

The world is a poorer place for no longer having such an amazing, small, fast and quick to operate rangefinder camera.
