'perfect' for me and for a specific task.

many might know that my favourite perfect for me strap is the round lance straps...very long and worn over the shoulder...

but i want to start wearing the fuji xe1 with 27 in front of me, on my chest on a thin short strap...preferably one that has quick release ends.

i have been scouring the net for hours but no success as of yet.
the closest i have found are the old canon straps, thin, cloth, black with grey down both sides...no quick release though.
any one know of such an animal that i seek and where to get one?

For a perfect strap, I think you just need to order it specifically made for you. Try this shop at ETSY.

- Made to Order (Base price = $29 USD)
- Custom Fabrics
- Quick Release
- 32" to 56" length
- 1.5" wide - if you want a narrower one, I'm sure they can accommodate you for an up-charge.

I used to use leather straps (by Luigi and others) but I always wear white shirts and I live in a damp, damp place and have many brownish stains on my shoulders as a result. I recently bought a strap by Roberu:

It's not perfect, I think, and not really for really heavy cameras. But it's comfortable, I like the way it looks, and it hasn't stained anything, though it has been very wet.

Joe, I had the same 'need' for the kind of around-the-neck strap you describe. I finally found perfection in a strap that was attached to a 'never-ready' camera case at our local salvage store. The strap is leather, about a centimeter wide. It has one of those belt-buckle arrangements near one end for modifying the length if necessary.

I cut the strap off of the case and then incorporated a snap hook into the ends by looping the leather strap through the snap hook and then sewing the leather loop closed, like a Gordy strap.

This little strap is perfect for cameras like the Fuji X100, X-E, or micro four thirds cameras. I keep split rings attached to my X100T and then when I'm tired of caring it in my hand, I just pull the leather strap out of my bag and snap it onto the split rings. Its the perfect arrangement. I'm actually surprised that no one makes a strap like this today.

In both wide and thinner fits

I have one on my GR, I wear it bandolier style, but could easily shorten it up and wear it as a normal strap.

It's been fantastic for me, the hardware at the camera end isn't bulky and stays out of the way. Plus they have lifetime guarantees.

I liked it so much I went back and bought another one to support them despite the guarantee

Currently using the Peak Design Leash on my em5. Very light, easily swapped for the Peak wrist strap. Folds easily into the camera bag when not in use and wraps easily round the wrist.

I've switch my two main cameras over to Sailor Straps. These are made from thick nylon sailing rope, with leather ends where the rope attaches to the mounting rings. They come in a variety of lengths and colors. I like the light green color. Made in Poland, they ship to the States in about a week's time via air mail.

not perfect but i found an unused leather strap in my junk drawer...it has cloth/web type ends that go into the lug rings of the camera...i cut them quite short and the camera sits on my chest, where i want it.
this will let me play a bit and see if i like it set up this way and if not, it cost nothing and i can go back to my lance strap.

Basic Leica 14312 strap at its shortest setting is what I use in such situations. Perfect with an M3, X100T, or similar, and it's one of the few QR straps i've found that doesn't leave bits dangling from the camera when detached.
