Can anybody confirm that a Sony RX 100 will fit in the front pocket of an average size pair of men's pants? I tried the Ricoh GR4 and it fit fine but the RX 100 is just a few extra MM's deeper in size.

i put the rx100 on my 60 inch lance strap...it hangs over the shoulder against my hip (high) and it fits nicely under my jacket...it's so light that i forget it's there...

I think the important question is how tight are your pants?

my thoughts exactly.

I'm considering getting an rx100 as i've been missing a really pocketable camera, the canon s100 now is cheaper with the release of the s110 (but they're pretty much the same) and i really like the 24mm wide lens, but the big sensor on the rx100 and its better higher iso performance is quite remarkable.

for reference, i have a vivitar ultra wide and slim, which is a plastic P&S. it's brick shaped, so no curved edges, also no lens coming out of the body. it's 3cm thick, so 5mm slimmer than the rx100, and it kinda already fits tight on my front pockets (i don't fancy loose pants). I used to have a Panny LX3 and a Ricoh Caplio GX100, which I'd pocket often, the GX100 is 25mm thick and fit alright, but the LX3 which is 27mm but the lens came away further from the body felt like I was too excited about the events I was witnessing... not so nice.

wish i could just try an rx100 at a shop to pocket it and see how it goes. not available anywhere where I live :/

I have a wrist strap on mine, the wrist strap has a hook. The hook then snaps on to a nylon strap around my neck and shoulder. The camera then can slide up and down as needed. It will pop into my slacks pocket even. Won't fit in my jeans pocket though.

If I just want to use the wrist strap alone, the wrist strap wraps over itself and the hook secures for a nice wrist loop.

The rx100 retired my lx3... Rx100 is easier to fit in my jean pocket then the lx3. Both have part of their lens stick out from body, but rx100 is thinner.

If u wear your jeans tight.. Then may have same effect as the lx3...

You said you wanted pics, right? Well, I shall quote myself then.

If there is one advantage the RX100 has over any other large sensor compact, it is the size ...

And my personal favourite:

Just for the sake of portability, this is the camera I'd like to have on the side of my backpack or in my pocket wherever I go.

One other reason this appeals to me is the fact that I do not need to carry a lens cap.

On the other hand, the disappointing part about this camera is the lack of a "Smart Accessory Terminal", which is what Sony uses for their NEX accessory attachments, like the EVF and such.

I do not care for a hotshoe on a portable compact camera, what's the point ...

I wear my pants loose so pockets are not tight. The RX100 sounds like the perfect "have it with you all the time" camera. Is there someone who makes some cool skins for this rig?

Do you really put cameras in [fabric] pockets? Mines gather lints, dust and what not. That's besides fact I don't like anything to hang down my pockets. Synthetic lining of jacket is different - and even then I have to clean pockets from time to time.

But that's just me, I have seen enough cameras clogged and failed because they don't tolerate alien particles in them.
