Incase bag question

Backround...I currently have the Ari bag from Incase and it is great. It has room for pretty much all of my gear - it makes the perfect travel bag. BUT, it is rather big and definitely would not want to carry it around all day if I was walking about. I recently looked into the Incase point and shoot field bag but can't really get a good idea if it would be large enough for a camera and possibly one other lens.

Currently I have an X-Pro1 with 35 and a M3 with ZM 50 1.5. I don't think I would carry both cameras at once but would like the option of being able to carry one of them with an extra lens if I wanted. The spot for the iPad is a bonus.

The Stussy field bag is basically the same bag with a different exterior.

I wish I could offer better advice, but ... it *looks* like your gear will fit perhaps w/o lenses mounted. What is for sure? I can say that I really like that bag! Having had (and still have) some of their computer related products, I can say that I have been really pleased with the look, feel, and quality of their products. Frankly, they were not on my radar during my present bag search -so thanks for bringing them up. I may have a winner!

I found this review online, it appears that it should have enough room you are right. I was just curious if someone had some first hand experience.

I have studied it a bit more and watched a few YT videos. Mounted lenses might work. I think the Fuji could slot in as intended and the M3 might drop in lens pointing down from the top. The DSLR sling pack is tempting as everything and more would fit, but it is too big (for me).

I have the Ari Marcopoulos bag already which is about the same size as the DSLR sling pack. It's a fantastic bag that has more than enough room for everything - but as you mentioned not something I want to carry every day. It makes a very good looking travel bag though.

My intention will be to shoehorn my X100 and M3/CV40 (basically the same volume as your gear) with a few batteries, a few rolls, and maybe a CV25 in it. The iPad feature is nice but I do not need it on walks.

If all fails, this will be perfect for my smaller kits which will obviously fit w/o issue if I can't quite get the aforementioned in it.

Well, it is Tuesday.

Hmmm. Yeah, this thing is tight. Great looking, well finished, fits nice, but wow ... Not very thick!

I had to remove the vented hood from the X100 to get it through the side access opening. The M3 with a J8 fit in the remaining open area fairly well. The real problem is the strap(s). I use Leica M straps on both and while relatively soft and pliable -they consumed a good bit of room. Worse, they pretty much ended up a cumbersome tangled mess ... not quick-drawable at all.

But it is not all bad news. At this size range of camera (M and X), I think it is really a one body with a pancake and maybe a second or third small lens type of bag. Personally, I think I will probably end up using it for my EOS M and the small kit of three lenses I put together for it.

I think the intended and best use is perhaps more for mobile business folks. You could easily put just the EOS M with the 22 or say an RX-100, GR or any similar cameras with wrist straps in the side access pocket. Drop your iPad in the soft, well padded envelope. Throw your cell phone, keys, and a few business cards in the various compartments -and sling it over your shoulder. With its "grey-flannelish" exterior -it would actually look right at home, perhaps best, next to a suit.

I like it.

Oooh... one thing I forgot to mention! Not sure if I saw this anywhere...

The way the strap is mounted (high on one side / low on the other) places this bag more in the "sling" category rather than a classic bag like a Billingham or similar. There is nothing wrong with this if that is what you like. In my case, I really like slings and had been looking at them -dumb luck, I suppose. That said, if you are not the "sling" type, then cross this bag off your list!

I was thinking of getting the Ari but when I saw you mentioned it was big I did an image search. Kinda surprised me. It is a big bag. I'm going to have to keep looking.

The point and shot field bag looks too small to me.

I was actually looking for a sling type bag - one thing I didn't think about was the straps. I might have to reconsider it...but the looks make it awful enticing. Do you think you could snap some pics with the M3? I really would like a walk-around-day-type bag. Now I'm thinking something like the Rickshaw iPad messenger with an insert or Timbuk2 XS with the snoop insert. I may have to look around and see if I can find one in person to see if the Incase will work out. I'm glad you like it, otherwise I'd feel a little guilty that I pointed it out to you!

Do you think you could snap some pics with the M3?

Here is one looking down on it with the front facing up. X100 on the left (filtered, but no hood, strap underneath to the bottom of the bag). It fits, but leaves little room on that side. In the same orientation, an M3 with a collapsible 50 on the right (capped, strap under baseplate). This fits great. A mounted CV40 size lens is similar to the X100 and would have to be hoodless as well.

Here is one from the side opening, top to the left and front facing up (pardon the tape -had to hold it open). You are looking at the M3 (bottom of M grip facing the viewer and the lens facing up, strap pulled out).

I'm very surprised that the Incase P&S bag will fit those cameras! When I handled one earlier this year, I didn't think even a Leica M with 50 Summicron would fit in it.

I've got a big yen for the Ari bag, though. It looks the bomb, and might be a good all-day walking bag instead of a backpack.

Well... I finally got around to trying to put an iPad in the bag.

It did not fit (at least with any form of case on it)! I tried three different ones and it was down to either naked or the magnetic flippy cover from Apple or it simply would not go in the slot!

Bummer. As much as I like this bag, it does not seem to make much sense now.
