papercase varies by type. You can get bleached or unbleached paper. Leather twine is only available with sapphire LCD upgrade.
Full M size.
Full M size.

It seems that the Leica M9 is going to be a bit taller than the Leica M8

So - I worked hard (took about 20 attempts) an managed to snap the window when it blinks quickly (with larger shots). So - Leica gurus - what lens is mounted on the 'X' camera? Maybe you can then judge the size better ...
The image below was expanded (by factor about 1.5) and slightly sharpened.

LOL, I will be there
There is a high chance, it will just be a rebranded Panasonic GF-1 with a Leica lens.

Leica could make a fortune off a commemorative Swarovski crystal flask shaped like an M9!

Re: the Kitty Commemorative
Re: the Kitty Commemorative
Rumor has it that Leica, in addition to dropping the Kodak sensor in favor of the Canon sensor, is also dropping the pink used for the Kitty Commemorative. They are negotiating with Mattel for one of the Barbie pinks, in which case the price will go up to cover the royalties to Mattel.
Can anybody confirm that rumor?

I'm just waiting on the hello kitty commemorative d-lux 4 to give to my daughter -- it's pink

On my budget I would only be able to afford the Looney Tunes
jelly jar edition.

Paper covering the part where a VF window would be! That can mean only one thing: live view LCD screen!

I think the M9 has gone beyond live view. You have to now buy the optional Brainlink(tm) that gets installed in an easy surgical process into the skull. The M9 will then know where you're focusing, and you merely need to think about f stop and shutter speed. The rest is Leica magic.

I`d like to remind everyone of the ubiquitous "Photo for illustration
purposes only". Maybe the photographer is just looking at re-runs
of Gilligan`s Island.

The reason for the "plain brown wrapper" is that underneath is a stark naked Leica? No, it's because McDonalds and Burger King are in a bidding war to buy the Leica name. Soon your kids will be able to buy a $9.95 plastic Leica digital camera almost as good as the one in your phone but it could be months before we know if it'll be the "Burger King" topped with a golden crown or Ronald McDonald topped with golden arches.
And the new long awaited M-10? That part is settled already. It's going to be a real Whopper of a camera. Supposedly Cameraleather is making brown paper "skins" to up date your old Leicas and Luigi has designed half cases that look like they already have grease and ketchup stains on them.
