Anybody a fan of Allen Frame's photography?

His stuff has been appearing on the covers of Roberto Bolaño's shorter novels, the ones released by New Directions, and his book DETOUR is absolutely incredible. Unfortunately, the quality of the images on his website don't do the stuff much justice. His older work is very high speed, grainy b/w portraits. The newer work seems to be medium format color of the same. There's just something about these unadorned rooms and the way light hits the skin of those inhabiting them.

Just my two cents-- this forum has been a great resource to me in finding new photographers.

I agree - I was a little disappointed with his selection for his site, which range from striking to mediocre. For the stuff I like however, I very much like his style.

I must admit that I am rather (to my shame) ignorant to most current known photographers. I had a look at the work of Allen. Indeed he has some interesting photos there, however most of them I would most probably overlook in a pile of similar photos. I can imagine that these are quite suitable for book covers and similar though.

Anyhow - me must be famous if he can charge $5000 per print.
