FWIW, I corrected the minor focusing discrepancy of my FED 50 on my IIIc by placing a shim made from a single sheet of paper between the lens and the mounting flange. Coincidentally, this also placed the focusing tab in a more useful orientation (infinity at 11 o'clock).
I'm buying I-22 again! Because of this work around and another guy in another thread who didn't provide Elmar for $150.
This time one from Kazan, thanks to nukecoke.

Thank you for all the replies! I got myself confused by reading the shimming Jupiter-8 posts scattered on the Internet. Now I have a clue.
You're welcome Ko.Fe.!
Interestingly the archives on www.zenitcamera.com didn't say anything about the 10-bladed version for neither I-22 nor I-50. Lost in history I guess.

Any thoughts on how I can get a Walz 21.5mm filter to fit? I ordered a yellow and orange one from Japan on evilBay and it just arrived, and it *juuuuuuust* barely doesn't fit -- probably an error of < 0.5mm too small, so it just falls out. Everywhere I saw said that it would fit (mine is a collapsible I-22), and now that it doesn't, I'm very grumpy lol. Probably because it's such a tiny error that is completely killing me (for being stupid). Anyone have any thoughts/ideas?

Years ago when my I-22 arrived, a lite yellow push-on was on the front. maybe one might be found "over there".

As an alternative, a 36mm push-on filter will work here:

I have two 22.5mm screw on filters, one from LOMO one from Petri, bought for my Industar-69 when I used it on my olympus digital.
Neither of them fit on my collapsible industar-22. The filters are too small and fall off.
I guess something with 23mm would fit.
Beware there are lots of incorrect information about I-22's screw on filter size on the internet.

It surprised me when I tested the I-22 on the IIIF how well it focused even close-up, despite what my benchmark test said. It does flare a lot, but otherwise a very solid performance. Mirror shot is usually a good focus test.
