Absolutely... Was in Mumbai 2 weeks ago for work, flew in one day and out the next but managed to spend a few hours to get inside Dharavi with the Mamiya 7II. I could spend weeks just in Dharavi itself - such engaging people - let alone the rest of the country. Too much to do and so little time to do it in :bang:

First a confession..these images were taken by my wife. Her brief was to
get amongst the people. We were not interested in the monuments, however
grand and unique they are.
Get to talk to the local people. See them up close, their families, their homes, and in a few instances join in their celebrations.

This, then, is what she saw and whom she met. As to the first picture..fortune favors the brave.

I've bookmarked this thread, Faris, as well as your threads on Nepal and Morocco. Wonderful photos of the people in each location, and the colors are gorgeous. Do you use a portrait lens for many of these shots, or just move in close? Really inspiring work. Thanks for posting, and looking forward to seeing more.

I don't know what to say. Embarrassed. A big thank you.

As to the equipment:

This India series is done on a D-Lux4.

The Morocco images are mostly an M8 with cron 28 asph/cron 75mm apo
plus a D-Lux4.

The Nepal images. They are from different trips. High up in the mountains
it is the D-Lux4.

Around 3500 meters it is the M8, cron 28 asph and the lux 50 asph

Below 2000 meters it is the Nikon D700 with the Zeiss 35/2 and the Zeiss
100/2.

We tend to get close to people. In most instances they know we are photographing them. We have their permission. 99% of the time.

OT, here are some people shots with the combo I mentioned..

D-Lux4

M8, lux 50 asph

M8, cron 75 apo

D700, ZF 100mm Makro Planar.
