I was thinking of getting a collapsible lens for my Fed 3b camera.
Would a Industar-22 or 50 fit & work well with a Fed 3?
I read somewhere that there were lens to film plane differences between Fed & Zorki cameras, and even between different Fed models.
Is this true?
If it is, would it mean that you can only use the lens that originally came with the camera and that you shouldn't be using other lenses?
Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of having a removeable lens?
Strangely I've yet to see a Fed 3 with a collapsible lens mounted.

The only thing to watch out for is to make sure you get one that is made for a Fed. The plungers (for the infinity lock) are different on the Zorki models. The Fed mounting flange is thin compared to the Zorki so the Zorki plunger will scrape the body when pressed down. The models built for the Feds have a thin "bolt" and miss the body when focusing..........

Thanks greyhound & DaveP for the responses.
Btw how is the performance of a Fed collapsible compared to a Zorki one or a Industar 61?
Are there any other FSU LTM mount lens that I should beware of when in use with a Fed3B?

I understand the FED collapsible is an Industar and thus should perform the same as those on Zorkis. Other than the rare f2 FED, all collapsibles are f3.5. The last collapsible FEDs were on early FED-2s. I believe Zorkis kept them longer. As Dave said, you need to be aware of the infinity bolt with ex-Zorki lenses on later FEDs. Other than that, there is nothing to beware of.
