I got an industar-26 but it is stiff in the focusing ring. I can not focus right, how should I lubricate?

Did the cleaning and lubing myself using Matt's tutorial. Worked wonders. Just take your time for the operating instructions to sink in looking at the pics, make sure you keep the screws in a safe place and enjoy a soft buttery focusing ring when you're through..

By the way, Matt's tutorial says to used Windex to dissolve the old grease. I think that I read here in the forum, that light fuel liquid is also used for the same thing. Should I go with the windex or use the other? I'm asking because, light liquid is more easy to find here.

Lighter, is lighter...
Lighter, is lighter...
Hi Rhodes! You can use lighter fluid, its petroleum naphtha, it dissolves grease. Windex is detergent based, isn't as effective. Cheers!

By the way, is lighter fluid kerosene? Or this is only a language trouble? Benzene has the same effect? May I use it?

Well-known
I hope you mean benzine and not benzene. The latter is carcinogenic while benzine is a petroleum distillate like lighter fuel. If in doubt I would try to get lighter fuel sold as such, because it is certain to be relatively non-toxic.

Benzine, yes! Our word is "benzina", a petroleum distillate. The trouble is, lighter fluid here, is: gas to the lighters like bic or such. Or gasoline, as we call it and also, gasoline, to the zippo lighters. Then again, the language terms may be teh trouble here, since we tend to ahve many names and designation to the same liquid, even if they are wrong. Exemple, the liquid used in petroleum lamps. We call it petrolleum, but it's not the real petroleum, it's kerosene, and also we used alcool, but the name we use is petroluem...

"Flim? You want flim?"
With all those potential problems, I'd say "stick with the Windex!"

Lighter fluid is "the" fluid (naphtha), in tin can.
Lighter refill gas (butane, under pressure, dan-dan-dan-dadadan-dan, under pressure...
R.I.P. Freddie!), also fluid in tin can, but "spray" type...
Edit: One might argue, I use "naphtha" in distillated hydrocarbon manner...
