Industar 26m with strange distance scale

I just noticed that the distance scale on my Industar 26m is pretty weird. It has distance engravings in meters: 1 1.4 2 2.8 4 5.6 8 11 22 infinity (just like f stops). During a cursory search for pictures of other I25m lenses I did not find any others that look like this. Anybody here have ever seen one like this?

The same distance scaled marks are also found on Lubitel "TLR"s and other Soviet made lenses.

Mine has the same distance scale. I've never noticed it before. Funny.

I've often thought that both the Leica and FED/Zorki/etc's factories were run by engineers who would make things up in their lunch break to try on their own cameras. Function rather than design, in other words.

So why shouldn't someone have tried something out and then a few were made? The flash idea seems logical...

I noticed the same oddity on mine when I bought my FED-2 a couple of years ago. Found it very strange but didn't care as it didn't affect the focusing accuracy. Just feels different when determining DOF though. FSU humour I guess...I thought there must have been quite a few others like that. What percentage ? I'd like to know.

Well I have several I-26M with this distance scale, so I would imagine that more than a few were made.

The same with my Industar 26m that came with a Fed 2 body (import version).
