industar lens cap question

Real quickie here (probably not the most exciting inquiry, but please bear in mind I was mostly a P&S kind of guy until a short time ago).

I have a Zorki on the way (the GAS has hit hard!) with a collapsible Industar 22. Could someone tell me what size cap I'll need once it gets here? I found a site that listed the diameter as 53mm, but then another that said something different. Instead of chancing it, I thought I'd ask.

Thanks.

...and 'alex-photo' on Ebay has plenty of those, in different styles (plastic, metal, FED-logo, Zorki-logo, KMZ-logo, no logo...)

...and you can make your own from a discarded plastic bottle cap.

I have a lovely green one sitting here on a FED.

Of course, that's not even close to classy. <G>

Tropicana Orange Juice, the small 8-10 oz size available at the convenience store, is almost perfect. Just shave some of the thread down on the inside. Depending on the type of orange juice you like, you can have orange, white, green and I think red.

Just wash the cap and leave it in the sun for a couple of days to evaporate out the orange juice smell.

Thanks to all for your helpful replies. I certainly do appreciate the home-made formulas too! Cap will be ready for the Zorki.

Now the wait.....

I've found another source for lens caps. Some vitamin stores take the empty plastic vitamin bottles back for recycle. The snap on lids for these are great lens caps. On the plus side, you don't care if you lose one as you can go back and get dozens more.

Some of those lenses came in both collapsable and non-collapsable versions. Also, I have two Zorki-4s, one of which came with an Industar-50, the other with a Jupiter 8. And the Zorki-3 has the J8. I usually try to be sure a lens cap is included. The only one I have that didn't come with one is a recently-purchased Zorki 5. (I'm trying to put together a set of Zorkis 1-6.) From the looks of things, I'm sure the collapsable version wouldn't take the same cap as the rigid one.

Just FYI, I found 36mm lens caps available from BH for about $6 (USD) just now. They fit the Industar-22 nicely. If you are just getting the cap, the shipping is likely about the same as ordering them from the FSU sellers but if you are getting other stuff, it would be quite a bit cheaper.

I've got an extra metal one that I'm not using. PM me with your address in Rochacha and I'll send it.

What is a $35 lens cap? Diamond studded?? I get the feeling Gandy likes money coming in.

Worse, the hard rubber lens cap comes with a nice slip-on metal hood for that price. The cap fits over the provided lens hood, too.
