Matt's classic cameras Industar relubing page says I will need Windex and/or some other grease cutting compound.
Will any window cleaner do, or does Windex have special properties? How about Zippo lighter fluid - will it work on old grease the way it does on old lightseal gunk? Those of you who have tackled this job - what did/do you use?

I use watch/clock-cleaning fluid or lighter fluid for old grease. A toothpick is good for getting it out of lens helicals and other threads without damaging them.

I used Zippo lighter fluid, extremely volatile and without any residual. Use it in a winded room, to avoid breathing its vapors

I use lighter fluid as well to remove the old grease from the threads with a toothbrush. And spirit (alcohol) or window cleaner for uncoated lenses. I lubricate most moving parts with ball bearing grease or watch oil.
