While grocery shopping 2 weeks ago I found a sale on packages of two small Rubbermaid containers, perfect for lunch snacks and... protecting smallish Leica Thread Mount lenses. Each package was $1.98 US for two. I believe similar pricing can be found all around the US and Canada.

So guys, next time you are asked to go to the grocery store, don't grumble, there's something in it for you... in addition to your food. Also look for cookie sheets on sale at less than $4, good for camera repair trays. Be sure to label them as such or they will disappear.

I have kept my Industar 61 l/d and My Jupiter 8 protected in the Rubbermaid containers. See the attached photos. I thought others might find this useful. Even Leica owners 😉

They also maintain freshness and keep out that "stinky bag" smell. 🙂

I was wondering what those things were when I saw the photos in the C-44 thread. I thought you were bringing along a snack for a long days' shooting. 🙂

You know, if they were black and made from phelonic plastic, they'd look just like .............
Hey, they stole FSU secret files ! 😛

I get them 4 for $1- at Dollarama. All the short and wide LTM and Contax/Kiev lenses fit except for the J12, but they're so cheap that I think I'll cut a hole in the lid and glue in a film canister for a "custom" j12 case.

Hey Fedzilla_Bob, completely OT but what happened to your eariler avatar? It was absolutely hilarious. Goes with the name too 😀 .
Thanks! I have a few of the 'Zilla avatars, they always come back. Keep watching. I thought I would honor one of my cameras.

Nope just my Vodka in the Freezer. But man do those lenses stay fresh, Yum Yum 😉
A kindred soul. I keep gin in the freezer and mix with vermouth at room temperature for a perfect martini. 🙂 😉 😀

Kindred soul for sure... I keep mine freezing so that I can have a vodka martini, Vermouth at room temperature as well. No need to shake. Just one stir, 2 onions.
With onions its a gibson if memory serves me correctly. I prefer olives, but either way its great and one stir does it.

I would also be sure to wash the containers thoroughly with water & dishwashing liquid to remove any "release agents" that may left on the plastic from the molding process. I would be afraid that these may "out-gas" with time and cloud the lens elements.
