This seller has posted this camera three or four times now. I don't understand why nobody had jumped on it. http://cgi.ebay.com/Welta-Germany-W...ryZ93780QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

He lists it as both a Weliti (which if correct probably would be rare, but I have never heard of it) and a Weltini. The Weltinis are not so rare, and go for one tenth to one fifth of the price listed, when in good shape.

Is there such a thing as a Weliti or is there a gold bar inside that I am not aware of? 😀

This seller gets great stuff and then puts it up at way too high of a price.

At least the pictures of the equipment is nice. I typically find the same item for about 20% of what he lists it for.

I would estimate a reasonable selling price for such a camera to be less than half of what he is asking for.

Nearly all of this seller's items are VASTLY overpriced.

Oh, I see it has an Elmar lens. That must add about $900 to the price, because the real-world value of this camera is about $35 or $40.

Maybe it's the Elmar factor?

I've seen their sales before. Sometimes they have decent prices, but more often than not, it's relatively conventional equipment at very unconventional prices.

Mike: Now my Welti 1 is worth less! I forgive you.

The item is worth what someone will pay for it. I agree, silly prices, and I see things like that all the time. Mostly, they don't sell. Sometimes, they do. Yes, I find that amazing what people will pay for it, but I get surprised when I see people get angry about it. If you don't like the price, don't bid. Who cares if the guy overprices his stuff? Nobody gets their arm twisted into bidding.

Best Regards,

How do you like your Welti? I have one, my second, and I really like it. I also have a non-working Weltini which I hope to restore one of these days.

Say, do you suppose I could combine them for around $1500?

Maybe I could convince them to mate?

I hope you didn't think I was angry. I think it would be silly for anyone to pay that much for it. It would also be silly for the seller to ask for less if he thinks there is any chance he could get that. Just in this case, I thought he was way out of line; at least ten times out of line on the price, probably more. Those are nice enough little rangefinder folder cameras. But you could buy a lot more camera for the price that seller is asking. For instance a Super Press 23 with probably at least a 65mm and a 150 mm lens, and some extra backs. Who wouldn't want that? 🙂

I didn't notice that before. Is that the pre-war model? That was what I inherited from my father. I used that camera for years before it began scratching film. Then before I could get around to fixing it, it was destroyed in a fire. 🙁
